While Gipuzkoa and Burgos were added in the league after the change of the promotion criteria, there’s a court order now as “El Mundo Deportivo” reports which give to Real Betis the right to compete in the top Spanish division.

The details of the decision are not known yet, however with a 17-team format for the second straight season already approved, Real Betis is asking to be the 18th team in the league. “The constant change of criteria for admission to the ACB “, is the reason behind this decision according to Fernando Moral, president of Betis Energía Plus, who gave a press conference today on the matter together with coach Alejandro Martínez and Ramon Alarcos, business director of Real Betis.

At the moment there’s no official reaction from the league, while Real Betis is preparing a team that according to its management will be also capable to compete in Liga Endesa.

UPDATE: ACB issued a press release in which the league implies that Real Betis will not be admitted in Liga Endesa for next season, insists that everything was done according to the rules and will take legal actions against the current court decision.
