Real Madrid had a difficult mission in Tenerife against the local team but managed to overcome its opponents and some in-game difficulties, prevailing 84 – 74 to remain perfect in the Spanish League.

It was a difficult task for the “Blancos”, not only because the reigning Basketball Champions League champs proved to be a tough nut to crack, but also since they also saw Gustavo Ayon exiting the game with an injury in the first quarter.

But captain Felipe Reyes stepped up with some crucial leadership that was also translated into numbers. The 37-year-old veteran registered a season-high 18 points plus seven rebounds for 26 PIR, pacing his team towards victory.

Tenerife remained very close until the very end thanks to Tomas Abromaitis (12 points), Mike Tobey (12 points), Mateusz Ponitka (10 points) and Rodrigue San Miguel (10 points). Yet they never scored any points after Tobey made it 74 – 75 with 1:34 remaining.

Meanwhile, their guests increased their lead thanks to a sequence of buckets by Jeff Taylor (3 points) and Fabien Causeur (15 points) and didn’t look back
