Unicaja Malaga is very close to completing the transfer of French power forward Livio Jean Charles with a contract for the remainder of the season, according to Diario Sur. He will replace injured center Giorgi Shermadini.

Jean-Charles will be eligible to play in Spain but not in the four games remaining in the EuroLeague regular season since the transfer deadline in the top-tier European competition expired on February 28.

The 24-year-old player has been averaging 11.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game this season in G-League with the Austin Spurs, San Antonio’s affiliate. He was selected by the Spurs back in the 2013 Draft with the 28th overall pick.

Jean-Charles last played in Europe with ASVEL in 2015-2016.
