Unicaja made official through its website that Joan Plaza will not continue with the Malaga team next season. The Catalan coach ends his contract on June 30 and the club informed him of their decision not to renew it.
Plaza will depart from the team after five seasons and the most games in the club’s history (325). His biggest success was the EuroCup title which the team achieved last season.
The president of Unicaja, Eduardo García, wanted to thank Plaza for the service provided:
“After a mature reflection, we have decided that the cycle of Joan Plaza has been completed at the end of this fifth season. We have to recognize the important career of Joan Plaza during this time he has been with us, and we want to thank him for his hard and intense daily work to give stability to our club”.
