Felipe Reyes: “It was a f… theft”

While the Copa Del Rey final was an amazing game, the result was decided by two controversial plays. With Barcelona up by two at the end of the overtime, Chris Singleton is fouled by Anthony Randolph and there’s no whistle, while in the final play of the game, the block by Randolph was legal and not illegal as the referees decided.

Here’s the play with the non-call on Singleton that led to a goal-foul by Jaycee Carroll.

And here’s the last play of the game. Despite the use of instant replay, the refs missed the fact that the ball hit the rim, before hitting the backboard and then the hands of Randolph. The basket shouldn’t be counted.

And the reaction in the locker rooms was visible and audible with Felipe Reyes, Real Madrid’s captain saying: “What a f… theft. Two years in a row. This a theft”. Rudy Fernandez also voiced his displeasure: “It’s a disgrace, dude. An f… disgrace”.
