Bayern Munich opens BBL Playoffs with an OT home defeat to Ludwigsburg

Judging by how it started, the 2023/24 BBL Playoffs should be very interesting.

Top-seeded Bayern Munich lost Game 1 at home to MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg 98-102 after overtime.

Andreas Obst saved his team with a miraculous shot, sending the game into overtime, but Ludwigsburg still prevailed in the extra five minutes.

Silas Melson was unstoppable with 33 points and 7/13 from beyond the arc, while Desure Buie flirted with a triple-double, scoring 20 points with eight assists and seven rebounds. Jeff Roberson followed with 15 points, while Jaren Lewis added 11 points for the winning side.

Carsen Edwards led Pablo Laso’s team with 25 points. Devin Booker added 16 with eight rebounds, while Obst also finished the game with 16 points.

Game 2 of the best-of-five quarterfinal series is scheduled for May 20th, with Bayern Munich hosting again.
