In a game decided on overtime, BMA365 Bamberg Baskets prevailed over Bayern Munich (103-97) and moved to the German Cup final, where they will face ALBA Berlin.
Ibi Watson with 24 points and Cobe Williams with 22 created an admirable duo, which ultimately survived a big test and can fight for the trophy.
On the other side, Nenad Dimitrijevic scored 24 points for the losing side, while Andreas Obst and Vladislav Lucic added 17 points each.
Bayern trailed by six points (83-77) entering the last minute of regulation, but back-to-back threes by Dimitrijevic and Obst managed to send the game to overtime (83-83).
Everyone thought that this was enough for Bayern. Still, Bamberg held on in the last seconds of overtime, as Obst missed the chance to tie the score at 99 with 21 seconds left, and Bayern couldn’t score after that.
Things were more predictable in the matchup between ALBA Berlin and EWE Baskets Oldenburg, with ALBA getting the 98-78 after getting an early lead and keeping it until the end.
Malte Delow, with 21 points, was the top scorer of the winners.
