The unbreached castles

By Lefteris Moutis/ moutis@eurohoops.net

This weekend Olympiacos became the last team that lost the chance to remain perfect in its domestic league after losing to PAOK on the road and also Anadolu Efes lost at the undefeated home court of Banvit. After those two results Eurohoops started counting the teams all over Europe that are still undefeated at home in their domestic leagues.

As it turned out, only 11 teams in the top ten domestic leagues in Europe had achieve that until this moment! Seven of them are also Euroleague teams (Real Madrid, CSKA Moscow, Zalgiris Kaunas, Khimki, Fenerbahce/ Ulker, Olympiacos, Brose Baskets), Banvit also competes in Eurocup while PAOK, ASVEL and Igokea are not playing in any continental competition. If we also count Euroleague or Eurocup games, then only Real Madrid and Khimki haven’t been defeated at home this season.

Examining every league in particular, the one with the most tough home courts is Adriatic league, in which the host team wins at the 69.9% of the games, followed by the Greek league (63,4%), while in Italy the home court advantage is just a myth as the guests so far are winning 46,3% of their games.
