The Gameday 2 of the 2021 EuroBasket qualifiers has started today (23/2) with seven games across Groups A, B, E, and F. Among them, some unexpected outcomes.
Thaddus McFadden stole the spotlight with 33 points and seven assists as he led Georgia to a 94-90 road win against Serbia. McFadden was also the one to bank the go-ahead three for 92-90 with 40 seconds left and sealed the deal from the free-throw line later on.
He got big-time help from Giorgi Shermadini who notched a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds while for Serbia, Aleksa Avramovic and Ognjen Jaramaz answered with 27 and 22 points respectively.
Meanwhile, the reigning FIBA World Cup champions suffered the first loss as well. Led by AJ Slaughter’s 26 and Aaron Cel’s 17 points, Poland logged a rather comfortable 80-69 win on the road against Spain.
