Estonia ends Italy’s streak with OT victory

Estonia outlasted a tough overtime battle against already-qualified Italy to grab a 105-101 win and improve to a 2-2 record with hopes to seal a ticket to the 2022 EuroBasket.

The Italian squad managed to overcome a 22-point deficit in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime, though a decisive 32-point performance Maik-Kalev Kotsar spoiled their perfect record.

Michele Vitali led Meo Sacchetti’s squad with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists, Giampaolo Ricci added 19 points and Marco Spissu had 16.

Kaspar Treier added up 17 points for the winners and Jnari Josaar posted 13 points, while Sten Sokk had a game-high of 14 assists.

Finland outlasted Switzerland with a 92-84 win to also improve to a 2-2 record in Group E, paced behind a 21-point performance b Petteri Koponen. Edon Maxhuni tapped 17 points for the Finnish side and Sasu Salin added 15 points.

Roberto Kovac led the Swiss team with 18 points and 6 assists, as they now fall to a 1-4 record.
