With an impressive performance in the second half, Georgia claimed the victory against Croatia 71-58 and retained their hopes to qualify to the knockout stage, while the Croatians made another mediocre performance, but they finished second in the group.

Head coach of Georgia, Igor Kokoskov, said: “It was a complete team effort. It was a great win for our team. It’s good that we’re playing the best basketball at the right time.”

Six players were in double figures for the Georgians, with Zaza Pachulia having 12 points and seven rebounds, while Luka Zoric scored 16 points for the losing squad.

After a close first half (25-28), the Georgian team dominated in the second (half) and outscored their opponents 46-30 (and 24-14 in the final quarter) to earn the win.

Croatia’s coach Velimir Perasovic was disappointed afterwards: “It was the poorest game we’ve played this summer, especially in the fourth quarter, when we gave up. It was one of the worst games we’ve had all summer.”

Georgia will now be waiting for the upcoming game between Greece and the Netherlands, which will determine whether or not the Georgians will advance to the next round.
