Vasilije Micic hurts ankle and exits Serbia – Greece

The home crowd in Stark Arena Belgrade was shocked to see Serbia star guard and reigning EuroLeague MVP Vasilije Micic leaving the floor in the first half of the 2023 World Cup Qualifiers game against Greece with what looked like an ankle injury.

During a defensive play, Micic leaped and awkwardly landed on his left ankle. He had to leave the court and go to the locker rooms limping and with the help of the Serbian national team’s staff.

A couple of minutes before Micic’s exit, Greece’s big man Kostas Antetokounmpo also got injured and was forced to leave the match, never to return. After a rebounding attempt, he went to the bench limping on his left leg, and then went to the locker room.

On Wednesday (24/8), Georgia captain Tornike Shengelia broke his shoulder during the World Cup Qualifiers match vs. the Netherlands and was ruled out of the EuroBasket.
