Franz Wagner: “No more threes tonight, hopefully I’ll make them vs. Spain”

Germany forward Franz Wagner was one of the protagonists of the big win of his national team over Greece in the EuroBasket quarterfinals, scoring 19 points and hitting 5-7 triples. He also played some strong defense, being often a part of the “Wall” made to stop Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Thanks also to Wagner’s contribution, the German side finished the game with a superb 17-31 3-pointers to heavily damage the opposing side from afar.

“Not tonight,” Wagner told Eurohoops when we wondered if he’s over with threes for the night. “Tomorrow and the day after that I’ll shoot some more and then hopefully I’ll make them on Friday [vs. Spain].”

Wagner and his teammates put on an impressive offensive performance to beat Greece as Germany advanced to the semifinals for the first time since 2005. It felt good to eliminate a medal favorite, but the Orlando Magic player wants to leave this match behind quickly. “We just want to win the next game, honestly. We got a good win tonight, we got to forget that as soon as possible and be prepared for Spain.”
