Berlin, Germany – Germany played the perfect game in front of a packed Mercedes-Benz Arena, overcoming Greece and getting to the EuroBasket 2022 semifinals. They will now face Spain on Friday (16/9) at 20:30 CET for a spot in the big final. A big contribution came from Daniel Theis, who ended the game with a giant double-double: 13 points and 16 rebounds, shooting 6/12 from the field.

He expressed his satisfaction after the victory in the mixed zone. “The second half was almost perfect. We defended as a team, we played hard and stayed together the whole game”, the Indiana Pacers player said about the 107-96 win.

Germany found the right way to contain its opponents in the second half.

“We didn’t rebound the ball in the first half, Greece got a lot of them. That was a tough part because when you go against Giannis you have to rebound, everybody has to be in there”, he admitted. “In the second half, everyone was rebounding and jumping in there. We limited Greece most likely to one shot”.

After coming back to the EuroBasket Top 4 for the first time since 2005, now Daniel Theis and his teammates don’t want to stop: “The medal was the goal before we started EuroBasket. We enjoy the moment right now and we’re gonna get prepared for Friday for Spain. Obviously, we want to win the gold medal”.
