Among key players for Greece, Nick Calathes is considered doubtful to suit up in the EuroBasket 2025.

Lingering knee issues are expected to prevent the experienced floor general of AS Monaco from following head coach Vassilis Spanoulis from La Roca Team to the upcoming international tournament. Limited by the injury, the former Florida standout logged only 13 appearances in the 2024-25 edition of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, tallying 3.7 points and 3.8 assists per contest.

Calathes, 36, is a veteran of 149 games with the senior national team, with 1.248 points to his tally in a lengthy career with Greece. Earning caps featured him in several major tournaments, including last summer’s Paris 2024 Olympic Games, following the FIBA World Championship 2010, FIBA World Cup in 2014 and 2019, and EuroBasket in 2009, 2011, 2015, 2017, and 2022. He captured bronze in the EuroBasket 2009.

With Thomas Walkup ruled out, Tyler Dorsey is projected to cover the naturalized slot on the roster. Additional selections by Spanoulis are likely to include Giannis Antetokounmpo but have yet to be formally announced, heading to the training camp before the EuroBasket.

In the preliminary round of the approaching tournament, Greece will compete in Lemesos. The Group C schedule features matchups with Italy, Cyprus, Georgia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Spain, between August 28 and September 4. The top four seeds of all four groups will switch from pool play to single-elimination contests, with the knockout stage set from September 6 to 14 in Riga.
