Nikola Jokic reportedly expected to join Serbia for EuroBasket

Nikola Jokic is expected to join Serbia in the upcoming 2025 EuroBasket.

According to Meridian, Jokic is close to making the decision and officially accept the invitation of Serbia head coach Svetislav Pesic to become a member of the national team for a second straight summer.

If the report is confirmed, Jokic will participate in back-to-back major summer international competitions for the first time in his career. In the 2024 Olympics, the Denver Nuggets superstar and three-time NBA MVP averaged 18.8 points, along with tournament-highs 10.7 rebounds and 8.7 assists as Serbia claimed the bronze medal by beating reigning world champion Germany in the third-place game.

Jokic will now headline a stacked Serbian roster that will also include Los Angeles Clippers guard Bogdan Bogdanovic and former EuroLeague MVP Vasilije Micic among others.

Serbia hasn’t won a gold medal in an international tournament since the 2022 World Championship. Their last EuroBasket gold was in 2001.

In the last EuroBasket of 2022, Serbia suffered an upset with an early exit, being eliminated by Italy in the Round of 16.

Serbia wiill compete in Group A of the 2025 EuroBasket, together with Turkey, Czech Repblic, Estonia, Portugal and host Latvia. The top four teams will advance to the knockout phase.
