Following Slovenia, Spain, and other national teams, Czechia also announced its 12-man roster ahead of FIBA EuroBasket 2025, with the huge absence of Tomas Satoransky.
“Today I had to make a very difficult decision. Those who know me understand what it means for me to play for the national team, and how much I wanted to take part in my fifth European Championship wearing the national colors,” he first announced on social media.
“However, given my current health condition, I’m not able to help the guys the way I’d like to, and the way that’s expected of me. That’s why I have to withdraw from the roster. Simply put, my back has stopped me — just like this young guy in the photo,” he added.
However, he still leaves the door open for the future.
“Before the summer, I wasn’t sure if this would be my last dance with the national team, but now I know for certain that I want to say goodbye on the court,” he said.
“I believe we’ll all see each other on the floor soon, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed from afar for the guys in Riga, hoping they can add another valuable success for Czech basketball!”
