Isaia Cordinier on France’s shocking elimination: “We will learn from this”

Riga, Latvia – Another day, another upset at FIBA EuroBasket 2025. Georgia shockingly eliminated France, who finished 2nd in last year’s Olympic Games.

It’s the first time that the Georgian national team has reached the Quarter-Finals at EuroBasket, and doing it this way makes it everything sweeter for them. And painful for France, obviously.

Isaia Cordinier, one of the most experienced players on the French roster, reflected on such a loss in the mixed zone, speaking about the fact that they were warned by yesterday’s win by Finland.

“It’s tough. I mean, we had the warning yesterday, and I felt like we were ready. We knew exactly that it would be very tough. We didn’t approach the game the right way, despite being ready,” he said.

“When it’s a tie game, you give confidence to the other team, and it’s tough to overcome. It’s tough now.”

“They played with their strength. Shout out to them, they played with a lot of pride. I have to pay respect to their culture. We tried, I think we didn’t give up,” Cordinier also added about Georgia.

If there’s anything positive from this outcome for France, it’s that the group was full of young faces, and they will improve in the near future. “It’s tough now, it’s a young and new group. It’s a new cycle, so we will learn from this,” Isaia Cordinier also said.
