Germany defeated Georgia 57-67 and improved their record to 2-0, while Georgia fell to 1-1. A really exciting and spectacular game to watch since early on with two teams fighting for positions in Group B.

The first half ended 36-41 in favor of Germany and with Schroeder being on another level, making the miracle shots and leading the way, things proved easy.

The star: Who else could it be? Dennis Schroeder was once again Germany’s leader. He finished the game with 23 points! What that being said, he also had 9 turnovers and 8/19 shots, so it’s obvious that for Germany is all about him.

The turning point: In the mid-third quarter Georgia had the momentum of the game, as Shengelia, Pachulia and Dixon were making tough shots, and seemed to have the upper hand. But, Germany with Schroeder as their leader did not give up and made a run that put them ahead at the beginning of the fourth quarter. This run continued in the fourth quarter and Germany built an eleven-point lead (54-65) which they kept until the end of the game.

Not enough: Shengelia attacked the rim with no fear dunking all over Germany’s defense and making highlight plays. But he finished the game only with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Zaza Pachulia was also effective with 14 points and 8 rebounds.
