The man who led Italy to the EuroBasket gold medal in 1999, may return to the national team with a different, yet significant role.

The Federation’s council discussed the proposal of president Giovanni Petrucci to appoint Bogdan Tanjevic as General Technical Director in the national team.

Tanjevic coached the Montenegrin national team in the Eurobasket and following the completion the tournament for the squad, announced his retirement. The 70-year old has had a lot of successes as a coach, as he won a gold medal in the EuroBasket with Italy (1999), and a silver medal in the 2010 World Cup with Turkey.

Italy is looking ahead to the new day of the national team and the post-Ettore Messina era. Romeo Sachetti is Italy’s new head coach, but the Federation is looking for more ways to improve this team with some new faces in the front office and Bogdan Tanjevic may be one of them.
