EuroCup Group D Recap: Victor Wembanyama impresses in season debut

Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana defeated Nanterre 92 75-63 to register its second victory in the new 7DAYS EuroCup season paced behind a double-double performance by Rion Brown, who had 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Nanterre suffered its fourth loss in a row, though 2004-born prospect Victor Wembanyama impressed in his season debut in the competition while at the same time scoring the his first points as a pro in the competition. The 16-year-old French center posted 5 points on 2-3 FG, six rebounds, four blocks and two assists across 17:29 on the court.

Ivan Fevrier led all scorers for the French side with 23 points.

Dolomiti Energia Trento edged Frutti Extra Bursaspor with an 89-80 victory to remain the only perfect team in Group D, despite being shortstaffed.

Kelvin Martin posted 22 points and five rebounds, Jacorey Williams had 18 points and 7 rebounds and Jeremy Morgan followed with 16 points.

Oguz Savas added double-double figures with 21 points and 11 boards, even though Bursaspor remains at the bottom of the group’s standings with no victories registered yet.

Herbalife Gran Canaria prevailed over visiting Promitheas Patras with a 98-83 win, their second straight to improve to a 4-1 record in the standings.

Stanley Okoye led the winning side with 25 points, four assists and three boards, as Tomas Dimspa had 17 points. Matthew Costello added a double-double of 16 points, 10 boards and Fabio Santana finished the game with 12 points.

Lefteris Mantzoukas paced the Greek side with 24 points, as Nikola Radicevic and Vangelis Mantzaris had 16 and 13 points respectively.
