EuroCup modifies the 2020-21 calendar

With a number of games being postponed and COVID cases rising all around Europe, the EuroCup Board members decided to modify the calendar of the season almost by two weeks.

As it was officially announced:

EuroCup Board members met remotely on Monday, November 16, 2020, to discuss potential modifications to the 2020-21 7DAYS EuroCup season and adapt the competition to the current disruption caused by the COVID-19 global pandemic.

The Board agreed to delay the start of the Top 16 phase of the competition, which was set to start on December 30, 2020, with the new start date being set for January 13, 2021.

The calendar modification will provide an extended window for any remaining rescheduled games to be played ahead of the following phase, reducing risk of games being cancelled and forfeited 0-20.

The modified dates for the remaining stages of the 7DAYS EuroCup are:

• Top 16 – from January 13 to March 10, 2021

• Quarterfinals – from March 23 to March 31, 2021

• Semifinals – from April 6 to April 14, 2021

• Finals – from April 27 to May 5, 2021

Additionally, the deadlines to play any remaining rescheduled games ahead of the following phase that were set in the 2020-21 Special Regulations have also been modified as follows:

• Regular Season – January 5, 2021

• Top 16 – March 16, 2021

The decisions taken will be brought to the ECA Shareholders for formal approval.

EC Board members include BBU’01 GmbH, Boulogne Levallois Metropolitans 92, Public Organization BC UNICS Kazan, Asociacion de Clubs de Baloncesto, Jadranska Kosarkaska Asocijacija – ABA LIGA j.t.d. and the United Basketball League.
