Valencia used the buyout clause in swingman Xabi Lopez-Arostegui’s contract with Joventut Badalona in order to acquire the player, per Joventut.
Lopez-Arostegui grew up playing with Badalona’s youth squads and played for has been with the team ever since. The Catalan side mentions that they offered him a contract extension in January that was turned down by his agent and that they “feel sorry” for the player’s lack of response these months.
In 2020-21, Lopez-Arostegui averaged 12.3 points and 4.9 rebounds in the EuroCup.
