After completing his move from the Golden State Warriors to Partizan NIS, Alen Smailagic discussed his decision with Partizan TV. Legendary head coach Zeljko Obradovic taking over the team based in Belgrade was key for the Serbian power forward.

“I am ready to learn from everyone, watch, work, and prepare for the season,” he said, “I think this is the best step for my career. I will work with a coach with such experience. He can teach me so much that I can use for the remainder of my career.”

Smailagic, 20, penned a three-year contract to return to Belgrade, Serbia. This season, he will display his talents in the 7DAYS EuroCup and ABA League, as his new team emerges among the strong favorites of both competitions.

Back in 2018, he joined the Santa Cruz Warriors. After one G League season, he was selected by the Golden State Warriors with the 39th overall pick of the 2019 draft. His NBA experience amounted to 29 games played with 3.0 points per contest.
