Venezia inks Spissu, Cedevita Olimpija retains Ferrell

Seventh summer addition for Reyer Venezia. The Italian club secured the services of point guard Marco Spissu, the team announced Wednesday.

Spissu, 27, returned to his home country after competing aboard for the first time in his career. He spent the 2021-22 season at UNICS debuting in both the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and VTB United League. The next season will be his first in the 7DAYS EuroCup. Other experience in club continental competitions features the Basketball Champions League and FIBA Europe Cup at his hometown Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari. Amedeo Tessitori, Matteo Chillo, Jayson Granger, Riccardo Moraschini, Derek Willis, and Jordan Parks were the previous signings made in the offseason.

Elsewhere, Cedevita Olimpija officially retained point guard Yogi Ferrell. The Indiana product made his way to 268 NBA games with the Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks, and Brooklyn Nets before moving his talents to Europe. From initially joining Greek giant Panathinaikos OPAP, he landed in Ljubljana midway through the 2021-22 season and helped to win both the league championship and cup of Slovenia. The EuroCup run ended in the Quarterfinals.

Jumping in from Brazil yet another point guard as Yago dos Santos penned a two-year contract with ratiopharm Ulm. At 23, the 2022 FIBA Intercontinental Cup champion as a member of Flamengo, will introduce himself to the European stage.

On Tuesday, Turk Telekom announced playmaker Burak Gozeneli signed a one-year contract extension. Logging four appearances, the youngster debuted in EuroCup last season.
