Veteran guard Pau Ribas dealing with a sprain in his left ankle concerns Jovenut Badalona.

In the latest update on his status, the team announced on Sunday that he will probably miss the remainder of the 2022-23 season.

Ribas, 36, was diagnosed with a third-degree left ankle sprain. Lacking a specific timetable, but considering the injury and approaching the end of the season, Badalona seems at peace with possibly sitting him out through the rest of the schedule of both the 7DAYS EuroCup and Spain’s Liga Endesa.

In the third season of his second stint at the Catalonia club, Ribas put in 9.4 points, 3.5 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 0.9 steals per EuroCup contest, and 7.0 points, 2.9 assists and 1.9 rebounds per ACB game. The team guided by Carles Duran reached the eighthfinals of EuroCup and is currently preparing to play host to the London Lions in a win-or-go-home matchup Wednesday. Domestically, the 17-10 record ranking sixth overall looks good on making the ACB Playoffs.

Ribas started his professional career in Badalona and was part of the EuroCup-winning run in 2008. He went on to Caja Laboral, Valencia, and FC Barcelona, prior to making his way back to his original surroundings in 2020. In 2014, he became a two-time EuroCup champion helping Valencia go all the way in the second-tier club continental competition of Euroleague Basketball. Beyond the club level, representing Spain in the 2019 FIBA World Cup and 2015 EuroBasket ended up with a gold medal on both occasions.
