D.J Cooper, AEK Athen’s latest acquisition, is in Athens, as the American guard landed in the Athens International Airport at 12.50, after a five-minute delay.

At the airport, Cooper met the club’s Team Manager George Hinas, the Assistant Manager Chris Vanikiotis and the Director of Media and Communications, George Nikolaou.

On Monday (23/11), the American will meet AEK’s head coach Dragan Sakota, his assistants and his new team-mates for the first time.

“Great things with AEK Athens”

In his first comments, Cooper said: “I am happy that I will play in Greece again, I like the country very much. I am excited that I will play for such a big club and I am looking forward to achieve great things together. AEK is a very good team, I played against the squad two times this year. It’s a very organised team, with Mavrokefalidis being a great player. I will do my best in every game in order to achieve great things together and make our fans happy.”

Cooper’s third time

AEK Athens will be Cooper’s third team in Greece, as he has previously played for PAOK and Panathinaikos. A few minutes after arriving at the airport, he posted in his Facebook account, saying: “Just landed in. It feels good to be back in this amazing country. I will be here for the next 2 years!”
