With Nenad Markovic on the bench, who replaced Ilias Zouros, who was the heir of Luka Pavicevic, Panionios managed to get the 97-85 win over Buducnost.
It was just their second win of the season with Giorgos Tsalmpouris (photo) scoring 18 points and newcomer Joe Thomasson adding 16. On the other hand, Buducnost is now tied in the third spot of Group B with Turk Telekom.
Also in Group B, standings leader Bourg didn’t have any issues on the road against Liektabelis (86-73), while Turk Telekom beat Trento (92-86) after a hard-fought game, and last but not least, Kostja Mushidi scored 22 points on the way to a 78-70 road win of Niners in London.
In Group A, Hapoel Jerusalem put on a show on the road against Slask, getting a 43-point win (115-72) behind Cassius Winston’s 22 points and Austin Wiley’s double-double (17 p. 12 r.).
Stefan Nikolic, with 23 points, led Venice to the home win (90-83) over Cluj-Napoca, and Hamburg remains winless after dropping one more game at home to Neptunas (98-94) as Ross Williams scored 32 points for the home side and Rihards Lomazs had 33 for the winners.
