Isaiah Whitehead signs a one-year, $1M deal with Lokomotiv Kuban

Isaiah Whitehead will be signing a one-year, $1 million (net) deal with Lokomotiv Kuban, according to Eurohoops sources.

The ongoing talks between Whitehead and the Russian club reached a happy ending Thursday (2/8) and the former Brooklyn Nets combo guard will play in Europe for the first time in his career.

In his debut season in Europe, Whitehead is joining one of the top EuroCup title contenders and a powerhouse in VTB League, the championship which includes the strongest teams from Russia, Latvia, Belarus, Estonia, Kazakhstan, and Poland. The American player is expected to undertake a major role on his new team that reached the EuroCup Finals in 2018 and will aim to win the trophy in the upcoming season.

Whitehead, 23, spent the two previous seasons with the Brooklyn Nets. In 2017-2018 he played 16 matches with the Nets, averaging 6.3 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
