Banvit in Eurocup’s semifinal!

The biggest success in Banvit’s history is a fact. The Turkish team got the 75-71 win over Paris Levallois in the second game of the Eurocup quarterfinals and qualified to the semifinals of the competition.

After Paris’ 67-65 win in the first game, the Turks needed a win by three points in order to advance. However with 3 seconds to go, the hosts had just a 74-71 lead and Sammy Mejia was in the free throws line. The American guard (18p.) made his first attempt, missed the second and Blake Schilb also missed the last desperation shot which would have given to Paris the ticket to the semis. Despite a 70-62 advantage of the eventual winners, Dionte Christmas succeed to a four points play after being fouled on a made three and cut Banvit’s lead to four (70-66) with 21 seconds on the clock. The game was finally decided in the free throws line as Mejia made 5/6 attemps. For the losing side, Mike Green tried his best (16 p., 9 as.).
