Maccabi Tel Aviv extends Othello Hunter

Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv extended Othello Hunter’s contract, the Israeli team announced on Monday. The 33-year-old center already had an option for the 2020-21 season and under the new agreement his contract was guaranteed for the 2020-21 season and an option for the 2021-22 season was added.

“I am very grateful to be wearing the Maccabi jersey for another season,” he mentioned upon signing, “If you know me at all then you would know that all I want to do is win and I want to do that with Maccabi. I would like to thank coach for wanting me on his team in the first place. I’m very thankful to the management, owners and the Maccabi fans for welcoming me and my family with open arms. The journey continues, Yalla Maccabi.”

“This is another important step on the part of the management and owners,” added head coach Giannis Sfairopoulos, “I am delighted that we have extended Othello’s contract because he is a very important player for our roster and for our goals. He is already giving maximum effort to the team and we We want to keep his effort & winning mentality to the road ahead. I’m glad we’re continuing together.”

The Ohio State alumni joined Maccabi Tel Aviv last summer. Since posted 10 points, 6,4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per EuroLeague appearance, also averaged 11.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per Super League contest. His team is 14-8 in Europe’s premier club competition and 16-1 in Israel’s league.
