Olympiacos asked EuroLeague to reconsider decision on Milano game

Olympiacos Piraeus sent a letter to EuroLeague Basketball, asking the organization to reconsider the decision to hold the upcoming game against Olimpia Milano in the latter’s arena.

EuroLeague had turned down the request of Olympiacos for the game to be either postponed or played in another city, like Rome or Genoa, due to concerns over the coronavirus outbreak in Italy and specifically in the highly-infected area of Lombardy where Milan is located.

The Greek Government has imposed a 14-day quarantine on every arrival from Italy. Olympiacos is playing Real Madrid and Crvena Zvezda at home during that timeframe.

Italy has been the most-infected European country by the coronavirus epidemic. As of Tuesday, 463 people died due to the virus, and 9,172 have been infected. The Italian Government extended the lockdown to the entire country.
