Ettore Messina talked to the Italian News Agency ANSA who confirmed he and his players have been willing to meet any requirements by the club including the salary reduction, and the official announcement may come as soon as Tuesday (March 31).

“The players said they were extremely willing to meet any requests from the club. They are sensitive and responsible kids. We have an owner like Giorgio Armani who has spent a lot of money on Italy in this difficult moment,” Olimpia Milan coach said.

He also noted that all the clubs agreed to let LegaBasket President Umberto Gandini talk to the public in order to not create confusion: “For a possible resumption of Serie A we will stick to the decisions of Legabasket and Fip. During the last assembly, all the clubs decided to have President Gandini speak exclusively so as not to generate confusion, to comment would be a lack of respect, not so much towards him but towards ourselves.”

Messina also apologized for not taking the coronavirus threat seriously in its early stages: “I thought it was a harder influenza, I was very wrong and I apologize if I said nonsense to someone.”
