Barcelona coach Svetislav Pesic addressed the case of Malcolm Delaney and the fact that the latter won’t continue with the Blaugrana in the next season. The player and the team mutually agreed to part ways earlier this month.

“Delaney didn’t show up, his agent asked for his contract to be extended,” Pesic said in an interview with Novosti. “We have four more players whose contracts expire but they are here training. We asked him [Delaney] to come back and join the team. If the play doesn’t resume, he goes home, if it does, he stays here. He refused, explaining that his agent was asking for an extension of the contract. We have nothing to extend, his contract expires on June 30.”

In an interview with Eurohoops following his departure from Barcelona, Delaney said that he wanted the club to show him that they can provide him with a long-term security plan.

Eurohoops has reported that Delaney is expected to sign a three-year deal with Olimpia Milano.
