Calathes and Barcelona reportedly have a deal

Nick Calathes and FC Barcelona were already in talks with a $5,5 million deal on the table as Eurohoops had reported and according to Sport24.gr, the Greek-American guard agreed to take it.

Calathes and Panathinaikos have already agreed to part ways, despite a contract which was valid until the summer of 2021 and would pay him 2,3 euros net for next season. The Greens are expected to change a lot for the following season and drastically reduced their budget.

Keeping Calathes under contract was not in their plans and also many more faces will change, including Jimmer Fredette who also has a hefty salary for the new reality of the Greek club.

Barcelona needs a boost in the backcourt after parting ways with Malcolm Delaney and Calathes – the top passer of the EuroLeague last season and the second in the All-Time list – can be more than a great replacement.
