CSKA edges Zenit in Neva Cup opener

CSKA Moscow struggled in the end but got a narrow 80-78 victory in the Neva Cup opener against Zenit St. Petersburg.

Dimitris Itoudis’ squad led the course with double digits for the most part of the game, though Zenit evened the score at the midpoint of the third period (71-71). However, the Army Team was able to get away with the victory.

Mike James led the Moscow side with 19 points and 8 assists. Tornike Shengelia posted 13 points, while Nikola Milutinov added 11.

Kevin Pangos led all Zenit scorers with a game-high performance of 21 points, four assists, as Austin Hollins dropped 10 points for Xavi Pascual’s squad.
