Khimki shakes up coaching staff, promotes Andrey Maltsev to the assistant role

Former player and experienced coach, Andrey Maltsev was named assistant coach of Rimas Kurtinaitis, Khimki Moscow Region announced Monday noting three departures from the coaching staff as well.

Per Khimki: “Andrey Maltsev, an experienced Russian coach who headed the farm team of our club Khimki-Podmoskovie at the start of the season, was appointed assistant coach of Rimas Kurtinaitis. Aurimas Jasilionis and Jure Drakslar will continue to work in the Khimki coaching staff.

At the same time, Robertas Kuncaitis, Giedrius Kurtinaitis, and Evaldas Kandratavicius left the club. We thank them for a joint work and wish a successful career!”

The Russian outlet currently sits at the bottom of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings after a poor 2-9 start to the 2020-21 season. As for the VTB United League, a 3-5 record lands them a middle-table spot.
