With a five days delay and after yesterday’s news about Mike James not traveling to Berlin for CSKA Moscow’s game, the Russian club issued the following press release in order to clarify the situation.

As it turns out, James is banned from the team since last Friday. According to CSKA: “On January 22, after the end of the match with Fenerbahce, an incident occurred in the team locker room with the participation of Mike James. As a result, the club decided to remove the player from practices and games.

The final decision on the future of James at CSKA will be made in the coming days, and explanations will also be given regarding the situation with Mike’s departure to the funeral of his grandfather”.

James has implied on social media that he wanted to leave Russia in order to attend the funeral of his grandfather, but CSKA has denied his request.

According to a report by the biggest Russian sports newspaper “Sports-Express”, the last straw behind the suspension is the assault of Mike James on his teammate Toko Shengelia during practice.

James denied on Twitter that this kind of incident has happened and the same did Toko Shengelia.
