Olympiacos’ Vezenkov back, Papanikolaou to miss more games

While Olympiacos Piraeus saw forward Sasha Vezenkov returning to action in a friendly 111 – 57 win over Messolonghi, forward Kostas Papanikolaou’s (neck) comeback isn’t expected to happen anytime soon.

“Vezenkov is back and he’s in a good condition, thankfully for us. He’s a pivotal player in my opinion. Papanikolaou is still out and it’s not projected for him to return presently” Olympiacos coach Giorgos Bartzokas said to the Greek national television after the match. Papanikolaou last played in a EuroLeague loss to Fenerbahce Beko in December.

Olympiacos will be having Vezenkov back in the upcoming road game vs. Anadolu Efes after the player’s absence in the defeats to Barcelona and Panathinaikos due to a knee issue.

“We have a very difficult game vs. Efes but we will go there to fight. We feel that we will be competitive,” Bartzokas said.
