Even though fans will not be allowed to attend the upcoming EuroLeague Final Four in Cologne this week, the competition has prepared a unique digital experience for those who want to keep in touch with the action. EuroLeague President and CEO Jordi Bertomeu explains what’s in store for this week via an open letter to fans.

Below Bertomeu’s letter, as published on euroleague.net:

Dear fans,

It is with mixed feelings that I am approaching you just days before our signature event, the 2021 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four, which will be held in Cologne, Germany, starting on Friday, May 28.

For seven months, we have witnessed the most competitive season of our history, with thrilling games, historic performances, and emotion until the very last second. On the other hand, we have missed one of the identifying traits of our league, your support at all of our arenas, your chanting and your cheering until the last breath to help your team.

We already knew, after the previous season’s cancellation and the difficult moments we are all going through, that the 2020-21 season was going to be different and, of course, difficult. But we can proudly say that we have achieved our main goal, which was to maintain the integrity of our competition by bringing an unforgettable season to all of you.

I would like to highlight the role that our clubs, players, coaches and referees have played during such an unusual season. They have made enormous efforts to overcome the many difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic – following the instructions of the league, national and regional governments, as well as those of the relevant global authorities – with the maximum seriousness and meticulousness. I offer my deepest gratitude to all of them.

I am sure that Anadolu Efes Istanbul, AX Armani Exchange Milan, CSKA Moscow and FC Barcelona will deliver a stirring final chapter to this exceptional season. Even if we are extremely disappointed at not being able to welcome you to Lanxess Arena, we will provide you with the same emotions and thrills by relying on the support of our TV partners, who will play a key role in bringing all the drama of our games to your screens, and on the innovative content we have developed for our digital platforms to show you the Final Four as never before.

I would like to highlight the support we have received from our marketing partners. Even during these difficult times, their numbers keep growing, and more importantly, so does their dedication and trust in our project.

I hope that all of you enjoy the Final Four from your television, laptop, mobile phone, tablet or any other device, and it is my sincerest wish to welcome you back to our arenas next season.”
