CSKA Moscow is trying to acquire guard Rokas Jokubaitis from Zalgiris Kaunas despite a verbal agreement between the young player and Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The report says that CSKA is offering to pay the full sum of Jokubaitis’ buyout (about $350,000) in order to secure adding player and while Barcelona has offered to pay just a part of the clause due to liquidity problems. The Blaugrana had made a proposal to Zalgiris to give them a part of the compensation they may get if and when Jokubaitis moves to an NBA team.
Jokubaitis, 20, is considered by Barcelona as a potential replacement for Leandro Bolmaro who will likely be headed to the Minnesota Timberwolves in summer.
