Omri Casspi’s future was up in the air this summer after the completion of the season with Maccabi Tel Aviv and, according to Israel Hayom, the player decided to retire.

Caspi was weighing his options recently, and although he talked with Maccabi about competing for another year, he in the end decided to take the hardest step and move on from basketball.

One of the best Israeli basketball players in the history of the game won four Israeli League titles and two Israeli Cups. All of them came with Maccabi which has been the only club Caspi played for outside the NBA, with the exception of Hapoel Galil Elyon where he spent a season on loan early in his career.

In the NBA, Caspi played for ten years changing seven teams – Sacramento Kings (23rd overall draft pick in 2009), Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets, New Orleans Pelicans, Minnesota Timberwolves, Golden State Warriors, Memphis Grizzlies.
