EuroLeague Basketball announced Monday they have sanctioned Panathinaikos OPAP owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos for comments made through a live broadcast on Instagram late last month.
As Eurohoops prior reported, EuroLeague opened a disciplinary proceeding against Giannakopoulos after he openly accused EuroLeague management of “stealing money” and personally attacked CEO Jordi Bertomeu.

The Independent Disciplinary Judge of Euroleague Basketball has issued the following ruling:
Mr Dimitris Giannakopoulos, individual associated to Panathinaikos OPAP Athens, has been sanctioned with a fine of €70,000 for statements proven offensive to Euroleague Basketball competitions and its managing authorities, in accordance with Article 24.1.g) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code.
