Partizan beats Efes in captain Velickovic’s farewell game

Partizan Belgrade bade farewell to captain Novica Velickovic by defeating reigning EuroLeague champion Anadolu Efes 92 – 85 in a packed Stark Arena, Belgrade. Velickovic played in the match scoring two points.

Zeljko Obradovic saw a balanced offensive performance by Partizan and four of his players scoring in double figures against the 2021 European champs. Rade Zagorac had 15 points, Zach LeDay and Yam Madar added 14 points apiece while Kevin Punter dropped 12 points. After a close contest for 30 minutes, the Serbian team was the most effective side in the fourth period to win the quarter 26 – 21 and claim the victory.

For Efes, Vaslije Micic produced 16 points, Filip Petrusev scored 15 and Adrien Moerman finished with 11 points.

Before the game, a minute of silence was held in memory of Serbian legendary coach Dusan Ivkovic who passed away Thursday (16/9).

In a prep game in Turkey, Fenerbache prevailed over Turk Telekom by 21 points (83-62) with Marial Shayok leading the way with 18 points and Nando De Colo adding 13.
