Olimpia Milano has a deal in place with former All-EuroLeague guard Kevin Pangos for the 2022-23 season, according to Sportando’s Emiliano Carchia. The report arrived just minutes after Milano was eliminated by Anadolu Efes 1-3 in the EuroLeague playoffs.

Milano has two of its backcourt stars, Sergio Rodriguez and Malcolm Delaney, on expiring contracts and the team was expected to make a power move at the point guard position.

Pangos, 29, was officially signed to a multiyear deal by CSKA Moscow back in February but didn’t play for the Russian powerhouse due to the war in Ukraine. By joining Milano, the Canadian playmaker will return to EuroLeague for the first time after his 2020-21 stint with Zenit St. Petersburg.

With Zenit, Pangos had a brilliant season, averaging 13.5 points, 6.7 assists and 2.0 rebounds as his team made the playoffs for the first time in the history of the club. The Russian side was eliminated 3-2 in the playoffs by eventual runner-up Barcelona but Pangos was named to the All-EuroLeague First Team.

Pangos then got a contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers to play in the NBA for the first time in his career. He was waived by the Cavs in February, almost a week before CSKA announced his acquisition.
