Real Madrid has secured the acquisition of EuroLeague star forward and 2022 VTB League MVP Mario Hezonja per multiple reports in Spain (Relevo first).

According to sources of Eurohoops Spain, both sides have already agreed to a two-year deal.

Hezonja will be returning to Spain for the first time after his stint with Barcelona, Real Madrid’s archrival. The Croatian player was with the Blaugrana from 2012 to 2015 when he joined the Orlando Magic after getting picked fifth overall in the NBA Draft.

It was previously reported that Hezonja is one main target of Real Madrid which is looking to freshen up its roster. The Blancos completed the season in EuroLeague last weekend with a dramatic loss to Anadolu Efes in the championship game (21/5) and are entering the playoffs in the Spanish ACB against Manresa in the quarterfinals.

Hezonja, on the other hand, didn’t manage to complete the EuroLeague season since his Unics Kazan team was expelled from the competition in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. He averaged 14.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 25 EuroLeague games with the Russian side.
