The upcoming ECA Shareholders Meeting will propose Dejan Bodiroga to become the Euroleague Basketball president in a newly-created position and Marshall Glickman is a candidate to replace Jordi Bertomeu as the interim CEO, according to Eurohoops sources. The meeting is scheduled to be held remotely Friday, 8 July.

Bertomeu, 63, dismissed led to discussions for a new structure in the management in Euroleague Basketball. Six of the 11 shareholders voted in favor of a replacement but the three Spanish and two Turkish clubs voting in favor of retaining his position are still questioning the right of CSKA to be part of the decision and thus the dismissal of Bertomeu. The Moscow outfit has retained its status as a team-shareholder despite the withdrawal of its participation in the 2021-22 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season and being excluded from the list of participants in the approaching 2022-23 season.

Bodiroga, 49, was rumored to become a part of the new direction fitting the conditions set for the adjusted governing structure to include new positions filled by former players or well-respected personalities of the basketball world. The three-time EuroLeague champion and two-time Final Four MVP was considered to hold a position in the new step of Euroleague Basketball, as reported by Eurohoops during the 2022 EuroLeague Final Four held in Belgrade, Serbia. In addition to the connections around Europe generated by his playing days from 1989 to 2007, he is a former vice-president of KSS, the Basketball Federation of Serbia. He has an excellent relationship with FIBA that can be a bridge to resolve known issues with the International Basketball Federation, as noted by Mozzart Sport.

The lengthy search for a new CEO produced the candidate in the form of Glickman. He was a longtime consultant for Euroleague Basketball working with Bertomeu on various innovative commercial and business projects over the years. He is the owner and CEO of G2 Strategic.
