AS Monaco announced that the club signed guard Matthew Strazel to a three-year deal. The 19-year-old French player becomes the fifth new addition by Monaco in the offseason after guard Jordan Loyd, wing Jaron Blossongame, forward John Brown and guard Elie Okobo, a teammate of Strazel at ASVEL last season.

“I am going to new horizons by moving to Monaco,” Strazel said per Monaco. “I set other goals to myself, try to bring everything I can give on the court. And do everything to win the title, this time with the Roca Team. I want to continue to gain experience. Discovering a new team with bigger ambitions in the Euroleague, can only forge me a little more.”

Strazel averaged 3.4 points and 1.9 assists in 15:16 minutes over 30 EuroLeague games with ASVEL in 2021-22 while posting 5.8 points and 2.4 assists in 18.5 minutes over 31 matches of the French Jeep Elite League. His team won the championship in the latter by beating Monaco 3-2 in the Finals after a comeback from down 1-2.
