Bayern Munich signed former Toronto Raptors and Orlando Magic center Freddie Gillespie to a two-year deal, the German powerhouse announced. This will be Gillespie’s first trip to Europe and EuroLeague.

“I’m sure that Europe and especially Munich is the right place for me at this moment to develop my game and improve,” Gillespie said per Bayern. “What I’ll bring, first and foremost, is my mentality of wanting to get the best out of every situation. Also, rebounding, defense, defending the paint, setting screens, going for the offensive rebound and my physicality. I’m looking forward to the Munich adventure and I’ve already heard that the city is a lot of fun.”

Gillespie, 25, spent most of the 2021-22 season in the G League with the Memphis Hustle, averaging 9.1 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 20.8 minutes over 22 games. He also made nine appearances with the Magic, posting 2.3 points and 4.0 rebounds in 13.2 minutes.
