EuroLeague Fantasy: Bartzokas at the helm

By Dimitris Minaretzis/ info@eurohoops.net

Getting over previous attempts on the best possible selection for our EuroLeague Fantasy squad, we picked up Olympiacos play-caller Giorgos Bartzokas.

Among the latest new elements of EuroLeague Fantasy is the head coach of the team. Because it’s new, being flexible and switching head coaches depending on the next games was a natural course of action. For example, we got Israel Gonzalez cheap and benefited from in-form Alba Berlin defeating Panathinaikos.

Now is the time to rely on Bartzokas, from here on out. Maybe we were late for the party.

Guiding Olympiacos to a 3-0 start, his value is up to 8.3 units. Win or lose in Vitoria-Gasteiz Friday, picking him up for the rest of the season seems a rational decision. How many games will the Reds end up losing, costing us points on EuroLeague Fantasy? We think not many.

Tamir Blatt is rolling

Moving on to our Fantasy tips regarding players. David Blatt’s son, Tamir has been flying under the radar.

Shorthanded Alba missed both Jaleen Smith and Maodo Lo against Panathinaikos. The Israeli point guard taking over on the wing registered a season-high 20 PIR.

Blatt, 25, was solid even before this week’s Regular Season Round 3 triumph in a more demanding pool with more teammates available. Averaging 17.7 PIR, he helped the Berlin outfit jump to 3-0. At 7.9 units and with recent form, we can’t find a reason to ignore him, despite his side facing Anadolu Efes at the bottom end of the two-game week. He is likely to last at least 25 minutes.
